Creation is Praying
A walk through the meadow in Spring
Creation is Praying
There are prayers of trembling
reverence
and prayers of patience
deep within cracked trunk.
There are prayers of displacement
and drawing in of wings.
There are prayers of curling blue petal
and imperceptible dances of reaching
towards light.
The croaking cormorant prays
and the spider with red jewel back
and squirrel with mouth stretched with nut
and dog with paws splayed hoping
I will give chase.
The sky like a pearl
are clouds praying, a singing prayer of
harmony with the sun.
The wind prays to be seen
inspiring others
and the earth prays to be fed.
The fire prays to be trusted.
Water prays to remember and let go.
Scented smoke rises
and hands connect
the clock moves with a tic, tic, tic
a petal turns brown at the edges
in prayer.
